A collection of work I did on Hogwarts Legacy while at WB Games - Avalanche before the game was finished.
I decided to just handle this a dump and write a bit about it. This doesn't encompass everything I worked on. But it is the bulk of it and some of the work I'm most proud of from my time with the team.
Most of my Hogwarts work was focused on the School Side of things. This includes: the Central Hall/Tower, Viaduct, Defense against the Dark Arts Tower, Astronomy Tower, Transfiguration Classroom, Divination Classroom, Belltowers North Hall/Tower and Library.
This is specifically lighting focused, I also created blueprints and other helper tools for the artists across teams to use. The light fixtures and windows were a big part of it. I might take some time and write up a blog about that experience. I might also break these out and do breakdown of some of the areas. But for the time being Id like to call attention to two areas. The Central Hall and the DADA Tower.
Both of these areas were tricky, but also I feel some of highlights of my time there. The Central Hall is a main junction so it got a lot of time and focus. It was a huge area that butted up to the Viaduct Entrance, another large area, so balancing perf in these areas was tricky. That as well as paying respects to both areas and the areas it connected to was a lot of fun. I really got to push our tech and systems. Secondly, the DADA tower...the "white whale" as we called it. It was just a bear to wrestle, the open floorplan, the stairs, the way the shapes and classrooms intersected... I think most people on the team touched it at one point and it landed on my desk at the end. I spent actual months working on this area and by the end it was a house of cards. But all things considered it worked out really well and was a fun puzzle to tackle.
I couldn't have done any of this without the team. Seriously, I can't express enough how awesome these people are.
